HEX: Shards of Fate combines the challenging and strategic planning of a trading card game (TCG) with the rich depth of a role-playing game (RPG), creating a whole new genre: the RPG-TCG. During missions, players earn rewards and unlocks upgrades to further bolster the ship. The ship features its own talent tree with new abilities, and replaces the champion in all battles at sea. The second chapter opens up an innovative naval campaign, as players captain a ship to sail across the Alachian Sea. ![]() New Naval Missions for Campaign and Increased Level Cap ![]() The campaign dungeons will receive additional challenges for mercenaries with this update. Each mercenary has a unique power at their disposal, opening up further strategic options to the players. Mercenaries can be collected and traded in the game like items of equipment. After each battle in the campaign, players now have the option of swapping out their heroes for a mercenary with fixed stats and a specially created deck. Joining the new class comes the arrival of the mercenaries in HEX. Well versed in the art of survival, Rangers show prowess with both melee and ranged skills, enjoying the companionship of their animal pets who support them with powerful abilities. Players can enjoy an entirely fresh experience in the campaign with the new Ranger class. These supplementary characters allow players to bring extra decks into HEX’s dungeons, giving themselves more strategic leeway to react to various game mechanics. The addition of mercenaries brings entirely new possibilities to the world of Entrath. The update offers around 40 hours of additional content, new unique cards and introduces an entirely new class with the Ranger. All booster packs can now be purchased using in-game currency from the store. They’ve also removed tournament costs and disabled premium currency purchases. With just three months to go until the game officially closes its doors, the developers are throwing a Sunset Blowout event and have consolidated queues to make it easier for players to find games. Developer and publisher Hex Entertainment doesn’t give a specific reason for sunsetting the game other than they’re “required” to, but it might have something to do with the undisclosed terms of their settlement agreement with Wizards of the Coast for copyright and intellectual property infringement in 2015. Hex: Shards of Fate (a.k.a Hex or Hex: Card Clash), one of the forerunners of the TCG craze back in 2014, will be shutting down on December 31 st, 2020.
